DIY Arduino for LCD

Arduino development board is great general purpose tool with huge community and support around it. But sometimes you need something simple where you don’t want to occupy a shiny Arduino board for this. And another thing if you plan on interfacing stuff like alphanumeric LCD you need some sort of shield or do some tricky wiring. Kaushlesh Chandel wen’t different way. He built a simplified version of Arduino board with 16-pin header ready for LCD and minimal support circuitry. As for programming he traced a header for FTDI based level converted. Also he left few pins for prototyping including D2, D3, D4, A0 and A1. This is great example of that it is not necessary to stick with Arduino design in order to have its functionality. Making them in our own way sometimes saves some nerves and probably money....
